Masinagudi

Kanniyakumari - Marunthu Kottai
Fort situated in Tamilnadu's Kanyakumari District close to Thuckalay Town. The Marunthukkottai was used to make and store gunpowder, as well as to provide medical care for injured soldiers. King Bala Marthanda Varma (1729–1758) commissioned his renowned European General Delaney to construct this fort (1715-1777). It was situated atop the hillside, 895 feet above sea level. The fort, which was well-defended with bastions and gun holes, covered an area of about an acre. revealed that during the reign of the Venadu Kings, this fort was one of the active forts. The Marunthu Kottai Bus Stop and the Fort are also reachable on foot. The Fort is around 14 kilometres from Kulasekharam, 4 kilometres from Thuckalay, and 15 kilometres from Colachel.
